Plan for the comfort of your dog prior to traveling.  Your dog’s security while traveling depends on you being prepared.  A harness or crate secures your dog while you travel.  Dog harnesses or a dog booster seat is designed to help protect your pooch.  A carrier is is the safest way to travel with a dog. 

Feed your dog at least three hours before you travel and take her for a walk prior to traveling.  As you travel always take time to stop and and allow her to walk around and drink water.  When you are away from home always use a leash as she may see something exciting and start to explore her surroundings and may run into the path of a car.   

Whenever you take your dog in the car, you might worry about what could happen in an unthinkable auto accident.  Especially with dogs roaming around the car or sitting in a chair with nothing to hold them back from hitting a dashboard or even window, it’s a scary thought.  There are a few things you can do to prevent potential harm from your dog.  When possible, you should try to keep your dog secluded to one area of the car, usually the back, this way during an accident your pet wouldn’t be moving around a lot.  You might also consider a car harness or a dog booster seat.

Car harnesses and booster seats work much the same as they would for a child; they secure the dog in a safe position, and during an accident, ensure the same safety afforded a person by a seatbelt.
